Divorce or separation can be an emotionally turbulent time for children and young people, potentially leading to a myriad of challenges including emotional distress and behavioural issues. However, it's essential to recognise that these outcomes are not predetermined.

As a firm advocate for the well-being of children, I believe that it's not the separation/divorce itself, but rather the manner in which it is navigated by parents, that significantly impacts the outcomes for their children.

In today's video, the first of a three-part series on the subject, I delve into five crucial factors that parents should consider when aiming to shield their children from the possible negative repercussions of divorce.

For additional insights on handling sensitive conversations with your child about the separation or divorce, I recommend watching my video titled 'How to Break Bad News to a Child.'

Stay tuned for the next instalment, where we'll explore further strategies for safeguarding your children's emotional health during this transition. Remember, by prioritising your children's needs and maintaining a collaborative approach, you can help them navigate this challenging time with resilience and strength.

Warmest wishes
