The Food Mood Connection - Part 3 - Could Your Child Be Comfort Eating To Avoid Big Feelings?

In this final part of the 3 part series on the connection between food and mood, I wanted to focus on how, rather than the food we eat influencing our feelings - as we have been exploring in the previous 2 parts of this series - our mood can sometimes influence the food we eat.

Emotional or comfort eating is when we use food to make ourselves feel better when we are stressed, upset or angry rather than to satisfy genuine hunger.  It does provide immediate comfort, but of course it does nothing to resolve the underlying feelings we are trying to soothe and often makes us feel worse over time.

It's not a habit we want our children to get into, and in today's video I share tips on how you can tell if your child is an emotional eater. I also explore possible triggers for emotional eating, and ways to combat this problem.

I hope you find it helpful.

Warmest wishes
